Reporters Without Borders reminds us that Christmas magic has its limits in many countries
16-December-2017
At the end of 2017, more than 300 journalists will spend the holidays in prison because of their profession. Reporters Without Borders (RSF) launched an end-of-year holiday-themed campaign to raise awareness of media freedom violations and to appeal for donations.
The video shows some of the world's best-known press freedom predators (Vladimir Poutine, Kim Jong-Un, Erdoğan, Donald Trump and Xi Jinping) disguised as Santa Claus to remind the public that "the magic of Christmas sadly has its limits" in many countries, where journalistic freedom and independence is inexistent. These leaders are still refusing to grant journalists their most basic rights.
This video is the work of Paris-based agency BETC.
