Tagline reads: “The Beauty of No Artificial Preservatives.” In a statement, the fast-food chain said it’s letting the burger rot to make a statement, showing that mold “can be a beautiful thing.”
The film shows the transformation of the burger over 35 days morphing from a picture-perfect-yummylicious burger to a nauseating inedible moldy Whopper piece.
"At Burger King we believe that real food tastes better," Fernando Machado, Restaurant Brands International's chief marketing officer, said in the press release. "That's why we are working hard to remove preservatives, colors, and flavors from artificial sources from the food we serve in all countries around the world."
Burger King said it's rolling out preservative-free Whoppers across the US and will serve them in all US restaurants by the end of 2020.
This campaign has broken all advertising rules. It remains nonetheless eye-catching and has already taken the viral route and garnered a great deal of buzz (1,5 Million views in 4 days).
This move reflects a global trend in the fast-food industry towards more natural-health oriented food and it seems that brands are listening to consumers' needs.
